Step
1: Collect Keywords for Your Product
Your launch strategy starts with
keywords so your listing can be found in Amazon search.
Short-Tail Keywords:
2–3 word phrases with high search volume (e.g., salt lamp, desk light)
Long-Tail Keywords:
4–6 word phrases with lower competition (e.g., salt lamp for office desk)
How
to Collect Keywords:
Use tools like Helium 10 Cerebro
to reverse-search your competitors:
- Enter the ASIN of similar products
- Extract top-ranking keywords
- Export the keywords to a spreadsheet
- Filter out irrelevant keywords (e.g., “home decor,” “speaker,” etc.)
- Focus on short-tail, high-volume keywords
It’s what drives your paid ads and helps improve your
position in organic search results
Pro
Tip:
When you download the keyword list,
also check:
- Search Volume
- Competition Level
- Relevancy
Target 5–10 main keywords to
build your initial momentum.
Step
2 Prepare Your Launch Inventory and Budget
Ensure
your initial stock is sufficient to meet estimated demand for the first two
months
Example
Calculation:
- Product landed cost:
$1.5 per unit
- Quantity to send:
600 units
- Total landed cost:
600 × $1.5 = $900
Additional Budget:
- Giveaways & PPC promotions: ~$500
- Review sourcing (if using a service): $100–$150
Total estimated budget: ~$1,400–$1,600
Step
3: Generate Initial Sales with Giveaways
Why Giveaways?
When your listing is brand new:
No reviews
No ranking
No sales history
Customers are unlikely to buy.
To overcome this, you must:
- Give away products
(free or heavily discounted)
- Collect 15–20 initial reviews
Launch Schedule Example:
- Day 1–10: Give away 10 products per day
- Day 11–20: Reduce to 5 giveaways per day
- After Day 20: Gradually slow down
Goal:
Rank on page 1 for your main keywords within 3–4 weeks.
Step 4: Run PPC Campaigns to Accelerate
Ranking
Your launch relies heavily on sponsored
ads (PPC).
Types of Campaigns:
- Automatic Campaign
- Amazon targets keywords and ASINs for you
- Manual Campaign
- You target your chosen keywords
Launch Strategy:
- Start an auto campaign on Day 1
- Create manual campaigns targeting your 5–10 main
keywords
- Monitor and adjust bids every 2–3 days
Step
5: Calculate Break-even and Profit
Example Scenario:
- Selling price per unit: $15
- Cost per unit (product + shipping): $1.5
- Amazon fees (approx.): $5
- Advertising cost per sale: $2
- Total cost per unit:
$8.5
- Net profit per unit:
$6.5
If you sell 300 units in a month:
300 × $6.5 = $1,950 profit
Step
6: Monitor and Optimize Daily
- Track daily sales & rank
- Adjust PPC bids
- Increase or decrease giveaways
- Watch competitors’ reviews and pricing
- Keep your listing price attractive in the first month
Important
Tips
Aim for products with a retail price
point between $12 and $15 for optimal affordability and margin potential
Don’t send less than 2 months’ inventory (approx. 600 units).
Reviews are crucial—plan at least 15 reviews during the launch.
Keep your product price competitive in the first 30 days.
How
to Check Competitor Sales
To estimate your competitors’ sales:
- Use Helium 10 Xray or 999 Cart Method
- Multiply estimated daily sales by 30
- Set your giveaway target to match 80–100% of their
daily sales
Example:
Competitor sells 10 units/day
You plan for 8–10 giveaways/day during launch
